Mary Deng was crowned Miss South Sudan 2009
Aheu Deng Kudum or popularly known as Mary Deng was named as the new Miss Earth South Sudan 2009 in a beauty pageant held in Juba. The contest was attended by Agnes Lukudu, the Minister of Environment, Wildlife, and Tourism of South Sudan.
Mary Deng is 18 year old student from Juba and stands 6'2.8" tall, the tallest documented participant in any international beauty pageant. She will represent the country at Miss Earth 2009 to be held in Boracay, Philippines.
South Sudan’s initial participation to the pageant was in Miss Earth 2008, when Nok Nora Duany represented South Sudan in the Miss Earth 2008. It was also the first entry of South Sudan in any of the grand slam pageants.
