BIO:
My parents taught me to persevere and stand up quickly when I am down. I also learned that the most important in life are the people around you.
Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.
My fondest memories were of the time my family made incredible sacrifices to take me to Italy to keep in touch with my grandparents. It taught me the value of family and culture. Eating pasta together with my grandfather's special recipe for us was the best moment ever , we were all together.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
My family always taught me to persevere and to stand up quickly when I felt I was down. It has helped all through life. I also learned that the most important things in life are the people around you.
What is your most memorable moment?
When I traveled to Dubai, I realized that the women we see with strange eyes when they wear their veils (burkas) in western countries were the ones who looked at me strangely. I realized how it felt to be treated like that and learned to establish a relationship based upon the simple fact that we were all women.
What is your environmental advocacy?
In order to protect mother earth, we should start by caring for its life stream mainly rivers, which are responsible for the lives of human species and the well-being of soil. Flash flooding has turned pollution into a double hazard for mother earth. It brings dangerous chemicals into new habitats and spread diseases that menace life in many area. My project is to promote the use of ecological ways to clean water from homemade filters to the use and application of existing laws and the regulating construction and management of infrastructure near rivers through various applications of ecological design. Through this process, we can manage waste water and prevent floods saving habitats and lives.
