BIO:
When I was a child, my grandmother used to take me to see the fireflies in the summer. I was touched and still remember it. Today, we see very few fireflies even in the countryside. I feel sorry that children don't have much occasion to enjoy the nature. Nature is the best teacher. I have determined to contribute myself to protect the nature of our future generations.
Describe your childhood when you were growing up from 8 to 13 years old.
When I was a child, I was playing outside all day. It was such a great experience to explore the mountain, and fish in the rivers with my brother. I was a Girl Scout, which taught me leadership, sociality and independence. And that endurance makes you stronger.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?
Endurance makes your stronger. For example, I hated karate lessons when I was a child and sometimes, I was in tears and almost gave up. However, I continued training and my form turned out better than expected.
What is your most memorable moment?
When I was 12 years old, my father , my brother and I went to Mt. Fuji. We decided to leave in the evening to see the sunrise. At first, it was a little bit hard to walk on the rocks. It was getting dark and cooler, even chilly and it was even raining and the winds got stronger. I was almost crying and my brother took my hand. It seemed to passing hours on and I said, " Daddy, I can't walk anymore". He said, "You can do it, we're almost on the top". We kept climbing and later "look", said my father. The sky is getting clearer and we finally saw the sunrise on the highest mountain in Japan. That was a most fabulous moment I ever had. Throughout the hard experience, I learned how important it is to accomplish a goal and nature is so great.
What is your environmental advocacy?
To contribute towards the protection of nature for our future generation.
