BIO: Jasmine Pham is a 3rd year student at Laurentian University, studying in the Kinesiology Program. She is a biracial young woman, with both Vietnamese and French Canadian roots.
Jasmine aspires to one day be the second Dermatologist in Northern Ontario, and dedicate her time specializing in all types of skin treatments.
Being a community-oriented individual, Jasmine hopes to build her business based on an open and welcoming environment.
She is ambitious in everything that she does, and believes in attempting all of her dreams in hopes of fulfilling her life with excitement and accomplishment.
Being an active volunteer, Jasmine believes that sharing your abilities with others to promote learning and development is an enriching experience from all perspectives.
She loves spending time with her family and friends, singing and playing piano, travelling, and participating in sports and exercise to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Jasmine lives by the quote, “In life, do not take the guided path, instead leave a trail”.

What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?
My interests are physical activity (volleyball, softball, cycling), playing piano, singing, and dancing.
I enjoy volunteering within my community the most.
List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, dance, etc.)
Grade 8 History in Piano, and Grade 6 Singing -- both with the Conservatory of Canada. Tap, ballet and jazz dance lessons. CPR and First Aid license.
In what sports, if any, have you participated?
Volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer, discus, shock putt, tennis, badminton, golf, figure skating & swimming.
Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
My grandmother, because she believes in tough love, but this approach motivates me to work harder in order to make her proud.
What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?
My proudest personal accomplishment occurred about seven years ago, when I was having vocal training, and I won the award for highest mark in Ontario with the Conservatory of Canada for my exam in my division.
What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
The most unique thing that has happened to me was becoming a big sister for the first time at the age of eighteen, to my adorable and loving little brother, Nathan.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My career ambition is to become the second Dermatologist working in Northern Ontario. I am currently working towards a bachelor in science, then I will apply to the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. After achieving a PHD I will continue to pursuer medicine in the field of skin.
What would be your “dream job” in life?
My dream job in life would be working as a Dermatologist because they have the ability to build self-confidence starting at the skin.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I was raised in Kapuskasing, Ontario, a small, but vibrant community. As a child I enjoyed participating in as many extra curricular activities as I had time for as well as keeping a close relationship with all of my family and friends. I was blessed with opportunities to take singing and piano lessons, as well as join both community and private sports teams.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
Working as a classroom tutor at Saint Patrick’s elementary school. During this job I had the opportunity to work with a variety of personalities while performing an assortment of tasks that kept me on my toes.
List any volunteering you have done.
I have volunteered with the Sudbury Special Olympics Gymnastics Team, St. Patrick’s Elementary School Activities Day and Archives, Kapuskasing Festival of Lights, Kapuskasing Lumberjack Heritage Festival, Hostess for Sport’s Palace Hockey Tournaments, and Kapuskasing District High School athletic and academic events.
What is your most unusual talent?
I have a strong toe grip, which allows me to pick up as well as throw various objects, of different sizes and shapes.
Where is the most interesting place you have been?
The most interesting place I have been is back to my mom’s native land, Vietnam, where I had the opportunity to meet my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as learn about and participate in my family’s cultural practices and daily routines.
What do you hope to be doing in ten years?
I hope to be building a successful business as a Dermatologist, continuing to volunteer within my community and starting a family.
Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?
I am very good at packing a large quantity of items of different shapes and sizes into a small space. I believe that it is important to have these three qualities in everyday life: respect, honestly, and a humble attitude.
