Miss Iowa, Carissa Becker

Hometown: Waterloo
Biography: Carissa is a senior at Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville. There, she is an honor roll student, a member of the varsity volleyball team, a state speech qualifier, the school yearbook editor, the student council vice president, and a National Honor Society officer. She also started "Volunteer Wednesdays," which provides students at her school with an opportunity to serve their community.
Outside of school, Carissa plays club volleyball with USA Volleyball and enjoys volunteering in the community. She has volunteered with Covenant Medical Center and Habitat for Humanity. She was also selected to be in Teen Trust, a teen philanthropic group that is responsible for deciding how to disperse $10,000 of donated monies to various nonprofit organizations. Due to her community involvement, Carissa was selected as the recipient of the Cedar Valley Mayor's Top Teen Award and the Mother Moon Service Scholarship.
Carissa is undecided on which college she will attend after graduation, but plans to study dietetics, nutrition, or exercise science and Spanish.
